Skinnhúfhellir Cave Paddling Tour

Our most challenging kayaking trip

Spend the day paddling across the entirety of Úlfljótsvatn, with a few stops on the way, towards a cave with an incredible view. 

Kayak with your group across the lake that the Scout Centre gets its name from to Skinnhúfhellir cave on the other side. 

Schedule

09:30 –  Meet guides and do equipment check
09:35 – Carry out kayaks and paddles 
09:45 – Begin kayaking
09:55 – Arrive to Úlfljótsvatn church and explore
10:05 – Begin kayaking to Hrútey island 
10:40 – Arrive to Hrútey Island and explore
11:10 – Begin kayaking to Steinngrímsstöð hydroelectricity plant
12:00 – Arrive to shore and begin hiking to the cave
12:30 – Arrive to the cave, relax, explore and have lunch
13:30 Spend more time exploring the area before returning to the kayaks
14:30 – Begin Kayaking back 
15:45 – Arrive back to Úlfljótsvatn
15:50 – Return kayaks to boat house and finish activity

Required Equipment: 
 Clothes you don’t mind getting wet
– Small rucksack for lunch and water
– Old shoes 
– Waterproof jacket 
– Personal medication 
– 2 litres of drinking water 
– Packed lunch

If you are missing any of these items the guide can refuse to take you.
All specialised equipment is included in the cost of this activity.
